ONLINE INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA
Technology is a powerful educational medium I have utilized in a variety of instructional solutions. Interactive tutorials, instructional websites, educational games and collaborative content management systems are just a few of the instructional media tools I have worked with.

Personal Finance: 101 ( HTML | Initial Design Concept )
I created this six unit, interactive Flash tutorial to arm teenagers with the basics of financial management and responsibility. Based on California teaching standards, topics include: income, personal banking, credit, saving and investing. While these skills are essential in today's world, many public schools are typically unable cover them. This project, available online, was created to help instructors provide this critical information to their students while still meeting their many other educational obligations.

VIIDAI Website & Content Management System ( HTML )
An informational website and content management system (CMS) were created for this international public health organization in order to meet their diverse needs and unique collaborative barriers. The CMS successfully brought three universities together to achieve unprecendented new levels of collaboration, while the website has given them an online presence to showcase the many accomplishments of their program in order to obtain additional funding to expand their humanitarian health efforts.

Capturing Expression: The Art of Children's Photography ( SWF )
This is the initial prototype for a series of instructional tutorials on children's photography for Autumn Hull Photography. The tutorial breaks down the expertise of child photographer Autumn Hull into easy to follow steps for children of all ages, including helpful hints to capture the perfect moment. There are also mini quiz questions throughout the tutorial to help reinforce what the user just learned.
PRESENTATION, TRAINING & WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE
Delivering face-to-face and virtual training and educational presentations are essential to understanding the needs and perspectives of instructors as well as providing invaluable communication skills. Experiences include both course design, Captivate instructional tutorials, workshop delivery, and more.

PowerPoint Workshops ( Lesson Plan PDF )
After conducting a survey of San Diego Miramar Community College faculty and staff to determine their training needs, we created and provided three PowerPoint workshops. We offered multiple workshop sessions on beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of using PowerPoint. Our participant evaluations proved our workshops were a huge success, and helped meet the greatest training need of faculty and staff at the community college.

Contribute Workshop ( Lesson Plan & Tutorial PDF )
We created and delivered a customized Contribute workshop specifically for the Mathematics Department at San Diego Miramar Community College in order to help them easily create and maintain course and instructor web pages for use by their students. The majority of the instructors were not very web savvy, so a tool such as Contribute was an excellent solution to meet their specific needs.

Performance Technology Perspective on the 9/11 Commission Report ( PPT )
This PowerPoint presentation was based on the results of a performance technology analysis we conducted on information sharing between Federal agencies based on the 9/11 Commission Report. Our findings indicated a need for a shared central information and communication system for all major government agencies as well as a much needed policy changes which restrict and prevent inter-agency cooperation.
EDUCATIONAL GAMES & SIMULATIONS
Games and simulations are incredibly useful learning tools that significantly increase learner motivation and overall learning. Educational gaming remains a relatively undervalued instructional tool with a tremendous amount of untapped potential. Experiences include instructional avatar interactivities, interactives games, and game prototype development.

Pax Romana: The Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire ( HTML )
Based on California teaching standards, this design concept for an educational board game on the rise and fall of the Roman Empire aims to prepare high school students for the SAT and AP History exams.
Players must expand their "Roman Empire" through conquest (correctly answering Roman history questions), while also managing the many obstacles the Roman Empire actually faced, such as overexpansion and economic burdens.

Analyze That! ( PDF )
This interactive online game concept was designed for Educational Technology students at San Diego State University. The game simulates the performance analysis process through interactive meetings with various project stakeholders, such as the client, subject matter experts, or target users. By practicing these interactions in a simulated environment, students will be more comfortable and successful in real world experiences.
